MSJC Women Cruise Past Mesa

The MSJC women's basketball team had a solid showing on Friday night as they started fast and cruised to a 71-36 win over visiting San Diego Mesa College.raivsmesa.jpg

The Lady Eagles came out of a shooting slump over the past two weeks to grab an early 17-3 lead in the first 6 minutes of the game on their way to a 35-13 halftime lead.  Erin Stanford scored 12 of her game high 14 points in the first half and  Johnette Brown pulled in 9 of her game high 12 rebounds in the first 20 minutes.

MSJC finished the night with a balanced scoring attack with Brittany Neely adding 11 points on 4 of 5 shooting and Cora Lopez posting a double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds while going 5 of 6 from the floor.  Brown finished the night with 9 points and Sarai Ware contributed 5 points and 5 assists, and Tamara Herring had 8 points and 4 assists.

The victory kept the Lady Eagles in a three way tie a top the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference standings at 5-1,  MSJC is now 16-5 overall on the season.  The Lady Eagles travel to Southwestern on Wednesday night for a 5 pm game.  Southwestern along with Palomar College are currently tied with MSJC for the lead in the PCAC.  The Lady Eagles next home game is on Friday January 31st when they host Imperial Valley at 5 pm.


Sarai Ware collected a team high 5 assists on Friday night as the MSJC women's basketball team beat visiting San Diego Mesa 71-36, to stay in a tie for first place in the PCAC.
