The MSJC women's basketball team got off to a fast start on Wednesday night building an 18-2 lead as they cruised to a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference victory 93-31 against visiting Imperial Valley.
The Lady Eagles saw 13 of their 14 players score in the game as each player saw at least 12 minutes of playing time. MSJC controlled the game from the start as they built a halftime lead of 47-12. The second half was more of the same as the Lady Eagles dished out 27 assists on 41 made field goals.
Alisia Spearman, Johnette Brown, and DeShea Wilkes each had 12 points to tie for game high scoring honors. Erin Stanford added 7 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists in the victory. MSJC had a total of 55 points on the night coming from their bench.
The win improved the Lady Eagles, currently ranked #5 in So. Cal and #11 in the state, to 13-3 on the season and 1-0 in PCAC play. Imperial fell to 1-10 and 0-1. MSJC will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Palomar College in San Marcos for a key PCAC match up. The Comets will enter the game ranked #3 in So Cal with a record of 12-2. The Lady Eagles return home next Wednesday when they host San Diego City in a 5 pm game. Next Wednesday's game is part of a doubleheader with the Eagle men's team.
