MSJC Women Open Conference With Road Win

The MSJC women's basketball team fell behind early, but rallied to win their PCAC North opener at Mira Costa on Friday 74-71.RaenaLasleyforMiraCosta1-19.jpg

The Lady Eagles trailed after the first quarter 26-16, but an impressive second period gave MSJC a 37-34 lead at halftime after out scoring the Spartans 21-8 in the second 10 minutes.  The Lady Eagles were able to push the lead to 11 with just over 4:30 to play, but the Spartans did not go away and MSJC had to hold on for the victory.

Britney Neely led the way on offense for MSJC as she finished the game with 16 points and 4 assists.  Haylei Janssens added 11 points while Alyssa Walton nearly recorded a double double with 9 points and 9 rebounds.  Raena Lasley finished her night with 5 points, 12 rebounds, and a game high 7 assists.  Madeline Gray and De'Adra Ross also hit double figures in rebounds with 11 and 10.

The win improves MSJC to 15-6 on the season and 1-0 in PCAC North play while Mira Costa falls to 11-5 and 0-1.  MSJC will have a pair of home games this week as they host San Diego City on Wednesday and Palomar on Friday.  Both games are part of doubleheaders with the men's team with the women's game tipping off at 5 pm and the men's games at 7.



​MSJC's Raena Lasley had 12 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 points on Friday night as the Lady Eagle basketball team picked up a road win at Mira Costa 74-71.  MSJC will be at home twice this week as they host San Diego City on Wednesday and Palomar on Friday.  Both games start at 5 pm.  (DeeAnn Bradley/MSJC)
