MSJC Women Win Big at Home
The MSJC women's basketball team played at home for the first time since November 12th on Friday night and defeated visiting San Diego Mesa 126-37.
The Lady Eagle offense got off to a fast start as they built a lead at the end of the first quarter of 29-14. The defense then controlled the second period as MSJC out scored the Olympians 35-3 in the second to take a commanding 64-17 lead at the half. It was the offense's turn once again in the third period as the Lady Eagles scored 42 points in the first 10 minutes of the second half to lead 106-28 after three quarters.
Britney Thomas led a well balanced MSJC offense with 25 points, she also pulled down 15 rebounds. Delacy Brown added 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Kaila Gower had 17 points in the victory and Alyssa Walton added 16. All 13 of the MSJC players who played in the game had at least 2 points. The Lady Eagles out rebounded Mesa 69-33 in the contest.
MSJC is now 17-1 on the season and will travel to El Cajon to take on Grossmont Wednesday night at 6 pm. The Lady Eagles return home Friday January 12th when they host Southwestern at 5 pm. The men's and women's team will play a home doubleheader on Wednesday January 17th when the two teams host Palomar in what will be the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division opener for the women's team.
MSJC's Tyra Fai'malo had 6 points and 6 rebounds Friday night to help the MSJC women's basketball team to a 126-37 win over San Diego Mesa in a PCAC cross-over game.
