Palomar Snaps Lady Eagles 24 Game Win Streak
The MSJC women's basketball team struggled to take care of the ball on Friday night and saw their 24 game winning streak snapped in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference loss to Palomar 59-48
in San Marcos.
Both teams had a hard time finding offense in the first quarter and the Lady Eagles led after the first quarter 8-6. Palomar found their rythm in the second and were able to build a 27-19 lead at the halftime break. MSJC chopped the lead down to 3 on several occasions in the third period, but could never hit the key basket to make it any closer and their poor shooting and turnovers caught up to them down the stretch giving them their first loss of the season.
Britney Thomas scored 18 points and pulled in 15 rebounds in the loss while Sarina Johnson added 8 points. Genaya Wilkinson added 6 points and 10 rebounds for MSJC.
The loss drops MSJC's overall record on the year to 24-1, they are 9-1 in PCAC games. Palomar improved to 19-4 overall and pushed their way into a first place tie with MSJC as they are also now 9-1 in conference contests. The Lady Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they host San Diego City at 5 pm on the San Jacinto Campus.
