The MSJC women's basketball team got off to a slow start on Saturday at San Bernardino Valley and could never quite overcome the deficit as they lost to the Wolverines 59-48.saraiforweb.jpg

MSJC made just 6 field goals in the first half and could never get their shooting going on the afternoon finishing the contest shooting just 23.5% from the field going 16 for 68.  SBVC held off second half runs by the Lady Eagles as MSJC had 9 chances to cut into a 6 point lead in the final 10 minutes, but came up short each time in the battle between two teams rated in the state's top 6.  MSJC entered the game ranked #4 in the state while the Wolverines were ranked #6.

Tina Fantroy led the offense for MSJC with 16 points while Sarai Ware added 11 off the bench.  Cora Lopez helped the Lady Eagles stay even in the rebounding column against the bigger SBVC team by pulling down a team high 9 boards in the contest.

The loss drops MSJC to 15-2 on the season and 2-1 in Foothill Conference play while SBVC improved to 16-4 overall and 4-1 in conference action.  MSJC will be back in action on Wednesday January 23rd when they host Chaffey College at 5 pm.  This contest will be another battle of teams ranked in the state top 10 as MSJC is now ranked #7 in the latest CCCAA poll and Chaffey is #9.

Sarai Ware came off the bench to score 11 points on Saturday, but the Lady Eagles lost for just the second time this season as they fell to San Bernardino Valley 59-48 at San Bernardino.
