Women's Baketball Team Back on Track with Win Over SD City

The MSJC women's basketball team responded to their first loss of the season by bouncing back to beat visiting San Diego City 96-40 Wednesday night in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference VictoriaSosaSDcity2-16.jpg
game.

The Lady Eagles came out of the gates quickly as they built a lead of 27-10 after the first quarter.  MSJC dominated the second quarter to push their halftime lead all the way to 60-17, before cruising home with the victory.  The Lady Eagles used a balanced scoring attack as four players reached double figures and 10 of the 11 MSJC players who suited up scored at least 4 points.

Britney Thomas led in scoring on the night with 19 points.  Genaya Wilkinson had a double double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.  Point guard Crystal Malveaux just missed a double double as she scored 15 points and dished out 9 assists, while Sarina Johnson also scored 15 in the win, 12 in the first half to get MSJC off to the fast start.

The win improved the Lady Eagles record on the season to 25-1 overall, they are 10-1 in PCAC play.  San Diego City fell to 8-14 overall and 5-6 in conference games.  MSJC will be back in action on Friday when they travel to El Cajon to take on Grossmont in a 6 pm contest.  The Lady Eagles will play their final regular season home game next Wednesday February 17th when they host Mira Costa at 5 pm.


Victoria Sosa goes in for a physical rebound Wednesday night as the MSJC women's basketball team beat visiting San Diego City 90-46 in a PCAC game.  Sosa finished a strong night off the bench with 7 points and 8 rebounds.  (DeeAnn Bradley/MSJC).
