Women's Basketball Picks Up Road Win at LA Valley

The MSJC women's basketball team got out to a 16-8 lead after the first quarter and went on to win at LA Valley College 62-41.alyssawaltonforLAvalley2-19.jpg

The Monarchs hit a three point shot at the halftime buzzer to cut MSJC's lead to 10 points at the half 30-20, but the Lady Eagles responded out scoring LA Valley 21-15 in the third period and then 11-6 in the fourth.

Alyssa Walton led the way for MSJC as she recorded a double double with 14 points and a career high 19 rebounds.  Haylei Janssens also had a double double with 14 points and 10 boards in the victory.  Raena Lasley added 9 points off the bench as MSJC out rebounded the Monarchs 61-35.

The win improves the Lady Eagles to 13-5 on the season.  MSJC will be back in action on Saturday against Rio Hondo College.  Game time and location for Saturday are still pending.
