Women's Basketball Team Picks Up Home Win

The MSJC women's basketball team used a solid defensive effort on Saturday as they defeated visiting Rio Hondo College 71-33 in a Foothill Conference game.
The Lady Eagles started quickly as they jumped out to a 21-2 lead on their way to a halftime score of 41-10. MSJC used a balanced scoring attack led by Kerah Natividad who scored a game high 21 points. Tina Fantroy added 15 points in the victory. Faith Fantroy did not score, but had a huge impact on the game with 10 assists, 8 rebounds, and 8 steals. Destiny Melton led the Lady Eagles in rebounding with 9.
The victory improved the Lady Eagles, currently ranked #3 in the state, to 15-1 on the season and 2-0 in Foothill Conference play. Rio Hondo dropped to 5-11 overall and 1-2 in conference action. MSJC will be on the road for two games this week when they travel to Barstow on Wednesday and San Bernardino on Saturday. Wednesday's game is scheduled for 5 pm and Saturday's contest will begin at 1 pm.
