Women's Basketball Wins 20th of the Season
The MSJC women's basketball team picked up a 77-44 win on Wednesday night over visiting Grossmont College to earn their 20th win of the season.
The Lady Eagles got off to a fast start as they jumped out to a 25-9 lead after the first quarter. MSJC would build the lead to 41-20 by halftime. In the second half Alyssa Walton got the Lady Eagles off to a fast start as she scored 10 straight MSJC points and the lead grew to 61-32 after three quarters.
Walton ended the evening with a game high 20 points in the victory. Sharonda Edwards added 17 points and 14 rebounds while Haylei Janssens also had a double double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Britney Neely had a solid outing with 12 points, 8 boards and 6 assists.
The win was the 20th of the season for MSJC as they improved to 20-6 on the season. This year marks the 13th straight season that the Lady Eagles have won at least 20 games. MSJC will return to action Friday when they host MiraCosta as part of a doubleheader with the men's team. Friday's action starts with the women at 5 and the men to follow at 7 pm.
