Women's Basketball Wins at Home
The MSJC women's basketball team led 58-29 at halftime on their way to a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division win on Saturday at home over MiraCosta 113-57.
The Lady Eagles got off to a strong start and built a lead of 32-15 after the first quarter and outscored the Spartans by at least 12 points in each period. Delacy Brown led the MSJC offense with 28 points and 8 assists on the afternoon. Nokomis Cabrera scored 17 points, including 13 in the first quarter to help the Lady Eagles to the fast start. Randi Johnson recorded a double double on the day with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Marissa Williams also reached double digits in scoring with 11 while Kristian Dewitt and Carla Johnson came up just short with 9 points a piece.
The win improved the Lady Eagles to 19-3 overall on the season, they are now 1-1 in PCAC North contests. MiraCosta fell to 7-12 and 1-1. MSJC will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Palm Desert to take on College of the Desert. The Lady Eagles return home on Friday night when they host San Bernardino Valley. Both games this week will begin at 5 pm and be followed by a men's game at 7.
