Women's Basketball to Host Pasadena in 2nd Round of Regional
The MSJC women's basketball team will begin play in the CCCAA State play-offs on Saturday night when they host Pasadena City College at 7 pm.
Pasadena will enter the game coming off a victory Wednesday night in the opening round of the Southern California Regional over San Diego City 66-60. The Lancers are 18-13 overall on the season and finished fourth in the South Coast North Conference, considered the toughest in Southern California. They are led on offense by 6'3 sophomore Alisa Shinn who was the WSC-N Player of the Year as well as being named 2nd Team All State. Shinn entered the play-offs averaging 20.9 points per game and 13.1 rebounds. Mercy Odima also averages a double double at 11.3 points and 12.8 rebounds for PCC while Jada Lin leads the Lancers in three point shooting with 45 makes this year. Celine Bolton-Ford also averaged 19.1 points per contest for the Lancers, but has not played since December 16th.
The Lady Eagles, the #3 seed in the So. Cal Region, enter the play-offs with a 27-2 record. MSJC tied Palomar for the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division title. The conference championship was the fourth in six years for MSJC. PCAC North and CCCAA Southern California Player of the Year Britney Thomas enters the post season as the Lady Eagles leader in both scoring and rebounding as she averaged 20.9 points and 14.6 rebounds per game. Delacy Brown a Second Team All-State selection is next for MSJC at 19 points and 7 rebounds per game she also leads the team in assists at 4.6 per contest. Kaila Gower is the third MSJC player averaging double figures in scoring on the year at 12.3 a game.
The winner of Saturday night's game will take on the winner of a game Friday between El Camino and West Los Angeles the following Saturday March 3rd in the Regional Final.
Ticket prices set by the California Community College Athletic Association are as follows for all post season games; $12 General Admission and $8 for students, faculty, senior citizens, and children 12 and under.
