Lady Golfers See Improvement in Second Conference Match

The Lady Eagles (3-3), led by Sophomore Co-Captain and International Student Ya-Ttinaatwoodhaven.jpging (Tina) Yang continuing her effort towards repeating as the Foothill Conference Most Valuable Player, improved 18 strokes from Monday carding a 333 for second place in Foothill Conference #2, six strokes behind Palomar College (6-0), three strokes ahead of Mt. San Antonio College (3-3), and forty strokes ahead of College Of The Desert (0-6), on Wednesday, September 14, 2011.
Yang, in unusually mild desert mid-90 degree temperatures with a refreshing breeze, was medalist for the second Foothill Conference Tournament in a row with a 1 over par 71 (37-34) at Woodhaven Country Club in Palm Desert, hosted by College Of The Desert.  Yang’s round consisted of 5 birdies, 8 pars, 3 bogeys, and a triple bogey when she was unable to find her tee shot on the 15th hole, but bounced back with two consecutive birdies.
Freshman Vivian Shoemaker (San Jacinto HS) posted an 86 (47-39) tying for 6th place in the 24 women field.  Shoemaker’s round included 2 birdies, including a chip-in from 35 yards out on the 18th hole, 4 pars, 6 bogeys, 4 double bogeys, and 1 triple bogey.
Sophomore and Co-Captain Melissa Simpson rebounded from her play on Monday with an 87 (45-42) over the 5,794 yard track that was softened by unusual thundershowers throughout the day on Tuesday.  Simpson’s round encompassed 6 pars, 10 bogeys, 1 triple bogey, and 1 quadruple bogey placing her in 9th place.
Freshman Valerie Zulueta (Paloma Valley HS) repeated her score from Monday with an 89, which placed her 12th.
Freshman Alexis Moss (Beaver HS – Utah) knocked off two strokes from her Monday score with a 96 (48-48).  Moss’ finish placed her tied for 15th and included 4 pars and 3 bogeys.
Freshman Dominique Lombardi (Beaumont HS) reduced her Monday score by five strokes and finished with a 107 (51-56) for 22nd place.  Lombardi’s round included 1 par and 3 bogeys.
Mt. San Jacinto College will tee it up again in Foothill Conference #3 hosted by Mt. San Antonio College, at El Prado GC - Butterfield, on Monday, September 19, 2011, at 10:00 a.m.
