MSJC Beats Second Place Mt. Sac by 18 Strokes
MSJC shot a 337 to recapture first place in the Conference as they bested Mt. San Antonio College by 18 strokes. College of the Desert, Palomar College, and Long Beach City College rounded out the field over the 5,900 yard,
par 74 Recreation Park Golf Course in Long Beach in Foothill Conference Match #6 hosted by Long Beach City College. The Lady Eagles move to 20-4 in Conference and 25-5 overall.
Freshman and International Student Ya-Ting Yang again led Mt. San Jacinto College with a 1 over par 75 to finish 2nd in the Tournament and continues to be Conference Medalist by five strokes over Krista Fenniak of College of the Desert and 12 strokes over Arica Rodriguez of Mt. San Antonio College. Fenniak shot a 71 to earn medalist honors for the day.
Freshman Melissa Simpson grinded out a 42 on the back nine to finish with an 89, which included 1 birdie, 7 pars, 4 bogeys, 5 double bogeys, and 1 triple bogey. Simpson continues to rank 11th in the Conference.
Sophomore and Captain Katelyn Hardy posted a 92 in the sunny and ocean breezes weather on a beautiful day in the 70's. The finish placed Hardy in 8th place in the Conference.
Freshman Connie Chen shot an 81 to finish 5th in the Tournament and solidify her 4th place position in the Conference.
The Lady Eagles are looking forward to hosting Foothill Conference Match #7 at the friendly confines of Oak Valley Golf Club on Monday, October 18, 2010. The ladies will tee it up at 10:00 a.m. and with no admission fee encourage all Mt. San Jacinto College fans to come on out and support MSJC as they look to extend their first place lead over the Mounties of Mt. San Antonio College.
