Women's Golf Now in First Place Tie

Mt. San Jacinto College fell from the ranks of the unbeaten and into a first place tie with Mt. San Antonio College in the Foothill Conference as they were unable to compete as a team in Foothill Conference Match #5 hosted by Mt. San Antonio College since Freshman Connie Chen was unable to play.  The Lady Eagles now stand at 16-4 in Conference and 21-5 overall.  Mt. San Antonio College shot a 354.  MSJC was followed by College of the Desert, Palomar College, and Long Beach City College.

Nonetheless, Ya-Ting Yang continues to lead MSJC as she carded a six over par 78 on the 5,507 yard Butterfield Stage Course at El Prado in Chino Hills.  Although Yang's finish placed her 3rd behind Arica Rodriguez (73) of Mt. San Antonio College and Krista Fenniak (74) of College of the Desert, she continues to lead the Foothill Conference for low average at the half-way point of the Conference regular season.

Sophomore and Captain Katelyn Hardy posted a 90 in the warm and windy conditions coupled with the aroma of the neighboring farmland.  Hardy finished ninth in the 13 women field.

Freshman Melissa Simpson shot a six over par 43 on the front nine after posting a triple bogey on the first hole and then carded a 45 on the back nine to close out the scoring for the Lady Eagles with an 88.  Simpson finished in 7th place.

MSJC will look to rebound when they tee it up for Foothill Conference Match #6 at Recreation Park in Long Beach hosted by Long Beach City College on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at 11:45 a.m.
