Yang Fifth After Day One at State Golf Tourney

Lady Eagle Ya-Ting Yang is 2 strokes off the lead and tied for 5th after the first day of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Women's Golf State Tournament.  The International Student Freshman posted a four over par 78 at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills and finds herself needing to climb over or past Tammy Panich of Glendale College (76), Kayla Riede of Sacramento City College (76), Taylor Gould of College of the Canyons (77), Elisse Van Deusen of Sacramento City College (77), and Nicole Rivera of Irvine Valley College (78).


MSJC Freshman Connie Chen shot an 83 in the sunny, light breeze, and temperature in the 70's under sunny skies weather conditions over the 5,877 yard track.  Chen's round puts her in a tenth place tie with Malea Miller of Bakersfield College and in addition to the golfers that Yang must pass also needing to get by Arica Rodriguez of Mt. San Antonio College (79), Krista Fenniak of College of the Desert (81), and Lauren Marlow Of Fresno City College (81).


Mt. San Jacinto College and Sacramento City College are the only schools with 2 players in the top 10 in the 39 women field heading into the second and final round on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Los Serranos Country Club.  Tee time is 10:00 a.m. with Yang teeing off at 10:45 a.m. and Chen teeing off at 11:00 a.m.
