Lady Eagle Soccer Team Cruises Past Grossmont
The MSJC women's soccer team scored four goals in a 22 minute stretch on Friday as they easily defeated visiting Grossmont 5-1 in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division match.
The Lady Eagles scored their first goal of the day at the 17 minute mark when Dimitra Tsambasis scored on an assist from Olivia Hernandez. From there the offense came quickly as MSJC added a second goal by Ryane McDevitt in the 28th minute on assists from Destinee Jeannette and Azalea Sanchez. The Lady Eagles really took command less than a minute later when Jeannette scored on an assist from Tsambasis to push the lead to 3-0. MSJC would net one more goal before halftime as Kimberly Mata got a goal on an assist from Tsambasis in the 39th minute.
After the halftime break the Lady Eagles made the lead 5-0 when Hernandez scored an unassisted goal in the 58th minute. Grossmont's lone score of the day would come in the 84th minute to make the final 5-1. Marilla Dos Santos played the first half in goal for MSJC and made 2 saves. Amber Roberts played the second half and also had 2 saves.
The win pushed MSJC's record to 13-2-3 overall on the season, they are 5-1-1 in PCAC North play while Grossmont fell to 3-12-3 and 1-6. The Lady Eagles will play their final regular season home match on Tuesday when they host San Diego City at 3 pm on the Menifee Campus.
