Lady Eagle Soccer Team Earns No. 16 Seed for Regional Play-offs
The MSJC women's soccer team will be making their fourth straight appearance in the CCCAA Southern California Regional play-offs when they host Bakersfield on Thursday.
The Lady Eagles who finished the season with an overall record of 12-6-2 will host the Renegades on the Menifee Campus kicking off at 2 pm. MSJC finished third in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division in 2016. Bakersfield will come into the contest after finishing second in the Western States Conference East Division. The Renegades enter the post season with an overall record of 11-7-2. MSJC is the 16th seed in the Region while Bakersfield is #17.
The Lady Eagles have been led offensively this season by Stefania Navarrete who wrapped up the regular season with 29 total points. Navarrete scored a team high 9 goals and also had 11 assists on the season. Morgan Schaaf was next for MSJC with 19 total points as she collected 6 goals and was involved in 7 assists.
The MSJC defense has recorded nine shut outs this season. Goal Keeper Riley Ludwig had 68 saves during the regular season.
The winner of Thursday's match will have their hands full as they will travel to #1 seeded Cerritos College on Saturday in the Regional Round of 16.
MSJC's Stefania Navarrete (#10) has helped the Lady Eagle soccer team to the CCCAA Southern California Regional Tournament. She and her teammates will host Bakersfield on Thursday at the Menifee Campus in a First Round match. Thursday's match will begin at 2 pm. (DeeAnn Bradley/MSJC).
