Lady Eagle Soccer Team Wins Final Home Match
The MSJC women's soccer team won their final home match of the season on Tuesday as they defeated visiting College of the Desert 4-1.
Tiana Torres got the scoring started early for the Lady Eagles as she knocked in an unassisted goal just 9 minutes into the first half to give MSJC the lead. Desert would manage to tie the score in the 15th minute with their lone goal of the day when Henessy Pena scored. MSJC would take control of the match for good in the 29th minute on a goal from Ariana Serrato, she got an assist from Andrea Perez to make it 2-1 at the half.
In the second half a pair of goals by Heather Furuya in the 49th and 66th minutes put the match out of reach. A.J. Newsome and Serrato each picked up an assist in the second half.
The win improved the Lady Eagles overall record on the season to 9-9-1, they are 5-3-1 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North contests. The Roadrunners fell to 4-16 for the year and 0-9 in conference play. MSJC will finish out the regular season on Friday when they travel to Mira Costa for a 3 pm match.
