Late Goal Lifts Soccer Team to Win
The MSJC women's soccer team got a late goal on Friday afternoon as they defeated Southwestern 1-0 in a match played in Menifee.
The Jaguars and Lady Eagles battled through the first 84 minutes with neither team able to score, before Calonisor Prentice got free for an unassisted goal in the 85th minute to give MSJC the lead and the victory. The MSJC defense has been solid all year long and Friday was no exception as they recorded their 5th shut out of the season. The Lady Eagles have allowed just 5 goals in 9 matches. On Friday goal keeper Marilla Dos Santos played all 90 minutes for MSJC and recorded 8 saves in the win.
The Lady Eagles are now 6-1-2 on the year and return to the pitch on Tuesday October 7th when they travel to Cuyumaca for a 3:15 match. MSJC returns home to Menifee on Friday October 10th when they host Mira Costa in their Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division opener. Friday's match on the Menifee Campus is also set to kick off at 3:15 pm.
