MSJC Soccer Beats Miramar; Moves into First Place
The MSJC women's soccer team came up with an early goal on Tuesday and held on for a huge Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division win as they beat visiting San Diego Miramar 1-0.
The win pushed the Lady Eagles into first place with just one regular season match remaining and the MSJC defense earned their 12th shut out of the year. Lauren Taylor was able to score the day's only goal in the 8th minute of action on an assist from Stefania Navarrete. Riley Ludwig who played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lady Eagles came up with a season high 11 saves, including a big save in the final 20 seconds of the contest.
MSJC, a lock to qualify for the CCCAA State play-offs for the third straight year, is now just one win away from the first women's soccer conference title at the school since 1998 and just the second in school history. The Lady Eagles improved to 15-3 overall and 6-1 in PCAC North play while the five time defending champion Jets dropped to 15-2-2 overall and 6-1-1 in conference. MSJC will host Grossmont on Friday at 3 pm on the Menifee Campus with the conference title on the line. The Lady Eagles beat Grossmont in El Cajon back on October 9th 2-0.
