The MSJC women's soccer team completed a highly successful regular season on Friday as they defeated Mira Costa 3-1 to win their 15th match of the season.
The Lady Eagles finished the year second in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division with a record of 6-1-1 and had an overall mark of 15-2-3. With Friday's win MSJC all but clinched their second straight play-off appearance. The pairings for the Southern California Regional Tournament will be announced on Tuesday.
Friday the Lady Eagles scored a late first half goal and an early second half goal to seize control of the match. Demitra Tsambasis scored in the 43rd minute on an assist from Gabriela Chaname to send MSJC to the locker room with a 1-0 lead. Just two minutes into the second half Patricia Roach pushed the lead to 2-0 when she scored on pass from Destinee Jeannette. Mira Costa did manage to cut the lead to 2-1 in the 71st minute, but the Lady Eagles put the match out of reach in the 84th minute when Tsambasis scored her second goal of the day, this time on an assist from Roach to make it 3-1.
Amber Roberts started in goal and had 3 saves, before being forced to leave the match after 15 minutes, Marilla Dos Santos took over and allowed just one goal in 75 minutes while makings 4 saves.

Demitra Tsambasis scored two more goals on Friday as she helped the MSJC soccer team to a 3-1 win over Mira Costa. Tsambasis finished the regular season with 17 goals and 8 assists giving her 42 points on the year.
