MSJC Soccer Falls to Grossmont in Home Match
The MSJC women's soccer team saw their two match winning streak snapped on Tuesday as they lost to visiting Grossmont College 3-1 in a contest played on the Menifee Campus.
Grossmont struck first in the 17th minute to grab a 1-0 lead, and then just a minute later scored again to push the lead to 2-0. The Lady Eagles answered with their lone goal of the day in the 25th minute when Leslie Cabral scored an unassisted goal. The Griffons would score one more time late in the first to move ahead 3-1.
Both teams defenses were strong in the second half as neither team would score. MSJC goal keeper April Sawyer came up with 5 saves in the match. The Lady Eagle defense was coming off two straight shut outs last week. This match wrapped up the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference cross-over series where MSJC played all five teams from the PCAC-South. MSJC now returns to conference play against their PCAC-North foes for the second round of league play.
The Lady Eagles will enter Friday's contest at San Bernardino Valley with an overall record of 7-7-1, they are 3-1-1 in PCAC North play. SBVC is currently in first place in the conference standings with a league record of 5-0.
