MSJC Soccer Shuts Out Palomar

The MSJC women's soccer team played great defense and found enough offense on Tuesday to beat Palomar 2-0 in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division match played in Menifee.AJNewsomeforpalomar1-17.jpg

The Lady Eagles and the Comets battled through a scoreless first half, but MSJC would finally break through with a couple of late goals to earn the victory.  The Lady Eagles first goal of the day came in the 69th minute when Ariana Serrato scored without the benefit of an assist.  MSJC would add the clinching goal in the 93rd minute when Heather Furuya scored with help from A.J. Newsome who was credited with the assist.  April Sawyer preserved the shut out with one save on the afternoon.

The win improved MSJC's season record to 2-4-1 overall, they are now 1-1-1 in PCAC North Division contests.  Palomar dropped to 3-4-1 on the year, Tuesday was their first conference loss as they fell to 2-1.  The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Friday when they travel to College of the Desert for a 3:15 pm match.


MSJC's #15 A.J. Newsome had an assist on Tuesday to help the Lady Eagle soccer team to a 2-0 win over Palomar in a PCAC North contest played in Menifee. The win improved MSJC's conference record on the year to 1-1-1.  (DeeAnn Bradley/MSJC).
