Soccer Team Beats Palomar, Sets up First Place Showdown
The MSJC women's soccer team scored in the first minute of the match and went on to defeat Palomar 3-0 in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division match on Friday in San Marcos.
Demitra Tsambasis scored quickly on an assist from Kaylee Wolever to put the Lady Eagles up 1-0. Olivia Hernandez added MSJC's second goal just 8 minutes later on an assist from Destinee Jeannette and the Lady Eagles controlled the action the rest of the way. Hernandez would add the final goal of the match in the 90th minute as MSJC defeated the Comets for the second time in 10 days. Amber Roberts and Marila Dos Santos combined for the shut out in goal, with Roberts getting 4 saves and Dos Santos stopping 3 shots.
The win set up a first place showdown on Tuesday for MSJC as they travel to San Diego Miramar for a 1 pm match. Miramar comes into the contest 5-0-1 in PCAC North play and 11-2-2 overall while the Lady Eagles are 4-0-1 in conference matches and 12-1-3 overall. The two teams met back on October 14th in Menifee and the match ended in a 3-3 tie. MSJC will be back home on Friday November 7th when they host Grossmont at 3 pm.
Olivia Hernandez scored two goals on Friday to help the MSJC soccer team to a 3-0 win over Palomar. With the win the Lady Eagles improved to 12-1-3 on the season and stayed unbeated in the PCAC North Division at 4-0-1.
