Soccer Team Earns Tie in Match at Irvine
The MSJC women's soccer team scored a late goal on Tuesday afternoon to earn a 1-1 tie with Irvine Valley in a non conference match in Irvine.
The Lady Eagles and the Lasers felt each other out for most of the first half with neither team able to score a goal in the first 45 minutes. MSJC goal keeper Marilla Dos Santos had 3 saves in the first half to keep the match scoreless.
Irvine Valley would score the first goal of the match early in the second when Courtney Smith scored on an assist from Tiana Salazar in the 48th minute. The Lasers goal was the first one given up by MSJC all season. The Lady Eagles stayed after it, and Dimitra Tsambasis tied the game with a goal on an assist from Kaylee Wolever in the 77th minute. Amber Roberts played the second half in goal for MSJC recording 5 saves and allowing just the one goal.
The tie kept the Lady Eagles unbeaten on the year as they moved to 2-0-1 on the season while Irvine Valley is now 2-0-2. MSJC returns to action on Friday when they travel to Victorville to take on Victor Valley College in a 4 pm match. The Lady Eagles will return home to Menifee the following Friday September 19th when they host Long Beach City College at 3 pm. unbeaten
Dimitra Tsambasis scored for the second straight match on Tuesday as the MSJC soccer team stayed unbeaten on the season with a 1-1 tie at Irvine Valley.
