Soccer Team Falls in Play-Off Opener

The MSJC women's soccer team, making their third straight post season appearance, are still in search of their first play-off win as they fell Saturday in a hard fought match at Cerritos 2-0.iu8jmyjh4pgx7np8[1].jpg

The Lady Eagles played their usual strong defense throughout the match, but the three time defending state champion Falcons were finally able to score the day's first goal in the 66th minute on a penalty kick from Carolina Jaramilo.  Cerritos would add a second goal in the 86th minute by Amber Whitmore to put the match out of reach.  Riley Ludwig played all 90 minutes in goal for MSJC and came up with 8 saves in the losing effort.

The Lady Eagles conference championship season comes to an end at 16-4.  MSJC's conference title was just the second in program history and their play-off appearance was their third in a row and just the fourth in program history.  Cerritos moves onto the second round of the So Cal Regional where they will take on San Bernardino Valley.  The Falcons improved to 19-0-3 with the victory.
