Soccer Team Picks up Third Straight Victory
The MSJC women's soccer team got off to a fast start on Tuesday and never looked back on their way to a 4-1 victory over visiting Mira Costa College in a match played in Menifee.
The Lady Eagles took command of the match in the first half on goals by Vanessa Gutierrez, Morgan Schaaf, and Nicole Young. Blythe Nameth and Stefania Navarrete each picked up an assist in the first half and MSJC led 3-0 at the intermission. The Lady Eagles would go on to add another goal in the second when Destiny Blythe found the net, once again assisted by Navarrete.
MSJC Goal Keeper Riley Ludwig allowed just one goal while making 3 saves. The win was the Lady Eagles third in a row and improved their overall record on the season to 12-5-2. MSJC is now 5-3-1 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division standings. Mira Costa fell to 9-8-2 overall and 3-4-2 in the PCAC North.
MSJC will play their final regular season match of the year on Friday when they host San Bernardino Valley at 3 pm. The Lady Eagles will enter the final match of the year with a third place standing in the conference. San Bernardino enters Friday's match in first place in the PCAC North with a conference mark of 6-0-3 on the year. Miramar is currently second in the league with a record of 6-1-2.
