Soccer Team Wins Again; Sets Up First Place Showdown
The MSJC soccer team picked up another victory on Friday as they shut out Mira Costa 2-0 to set up a first place showdown with San Diego Miramar on Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead just two minutes into Friday's contest as Patricia Roach scored on an assist from McKayla Collins. Both team's defenses would control the rest of the game until MSJC was able to put the game out of reach in the 89th minute when Collins scored on an assist from Ryane McDevitt. Riley Ludwig played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lady Eagles and made 7 saves as MSJC earned their 11th shut out of the season.
The win improved MSJC to 14-3 overall and 5-1 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division play with two regular season matches remaining. The Lady Eagles are just half a game behind San Diego Miramar in the conference standings and will host the Jets on Tuesday. Miramar who is 15-1-2 overall and 6-0-1 in PCAC North play is playing their final regular season match in Menifee. Miramar and the Lady Eagles have finished first and second in the PCAC North the previous two seasons.
Tuesday's match on the Menifee Campus is set to kick off at 3 pm.
