Klink and Steele Win PCAC Doubles Title, Teammates Also Advance
MSJC women's tennis players Stacey Klink and Scarlett Steele won the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference women's tennis doubles title this weekend in San Diego.
Klink and Steele out lasted all of their PCAC opponents over the three day event capturing the championship in an exciting three set match on Saturday. The doubles championship adds to an already highly successful season for the team as they had already captured a share of the team conference title two weeks ago. Klink and Steele also both qualified for the Regional tournament at Ojai next week in singles. Klink reached the quarter-finals in the PCAC singles competition while Steele made the round of 16 and then won a match in the back draw to qualify.
The two other Lady Eagle doubles teams also advanced to Ojai by reaching the round of 16 and winning in the back draw. Corbie Adams and Shayla Evans teamed up to advance as did Margarita Leyva and Emily Cantu.
On the men's side of the draw at the PCAC tournament the Eagles qualified two doubles teams for Ojai. The pairs of Edward Mora and Ashton Vega as well as Richard Godsey and Fabion Pompa made it to the Regionals with a win in the back draw after reaching the round of 16.
