MSJC Women's Tennis Picks Up First Win

The MSJC women's tennis team dominated doubles play on Tuesday afternoon and earned their first win of the season 6-3 on the road at College of the Desert.

The Lady Eagles won all three doubles matches on the day to take command of the match headed to singles.  MSJC's #1 doubles team of Taylor Johnson and Stephanie Kel de Leon won a tightly contested 8-5 match while the Lady Eagles #2 team of Corbie Adams and Margarita Leyva dominated their contest winning 8-0.  The team of Ashley Pierson and Niah Hampton also won in doubles 8-2 for MSJC.

In the singles competition MSJC and Desert split winning three matches a piece.  Kel de Leon, Leyva, and Hampton all picked up wins for the Lady Eagles.  Leyva had the most dominate win in the #4 match as she coasted to a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

The win was the first of the season for MSJC, who are the defending PCAC Champions, they improved to 1-3 on the season.  The Lady Eagles will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Whittier for a non-conference match against Rio Hondo.
