MSJC Women's Tennis Picks Up Second Win

The MSJC women's tennis team rallied back from a 2-1 deficit after doubles play on Wednesday to defeat Imperial Valley 5-4 in a home conference match.

The Lady Eagles who also won a non-conference match last week against Rio Hondo improved to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play with Wednesday's victory.  MSJC's number three doubles team of Margarita Leyva and Emily Cantu picked the Lady Eagles only point in doubles as they rallied to win their match 8-6.  MSJC would go on to win four of the six singles matches for the win.

Stacey Klink set the tone for MSJC in the number one singles match with a 6-2, 6-2 win.  Shayla Evans, Leyva, and Cantu also picked up singles wins in straight sets to earn the team victory.  Leyva had the closest of the singles matches as she won 7-5 and 6-4.  Scarlett Steel and Corbie Adams came up on the losing end of their singles contests for MSJC.

MSJC will return to action next Thursday when they travel to El Cajon to take on Grossmont.  The Lady Eagles next home match is on Thursday February 23rd when they host Southwestern.  All of this season's women's tennis matches both home and away are set to begin at 2 pm.
