Women's Tennis Splits a Pair of Matches

The MSJC women's tennis team picked up a win on the road Tuesday at Palomar, but fell in a tight match at home on Thursday.

The Eagles defeated Palomar 5-1 on Tuesday as they won both doubles matches and three of four singles contests.  Taylor Johnson and Corbie Adams got MSJC off to a fast start with an 8-1 doubles victory and Stephanie Kel de Leon and Ashley Pierson teamed to pick up another win.  Johnson, Adam, and Pearson also won their singles matches with Johnson winning in straight sets 6-3 and 6-1.  Kel de Leon had the match of the day despite losing as she battled to a tough 5-7, 7-5, 12-10 loss.

Thursday MSJC came up just one win short of a victory as they lost to Southwestern 5-4.  The doubles teams of Johnson and Adams as well as Kel de Leon and Pearson again won doubles matches as MSJC led 2-1 headed to singles.  Southwestern won four of the six singles matches for the victory.  Johnson and Adams were the only two Eagles to win in singles as they both picked up straight set victories.

MSJC returns to action on Tuesday when they host San Diego City at 2 pm.
