The Valdivia Family

The Valdivia family’s ties to MSJC go back to the early 1960s when the college first opened. Sylvia, Sal and Palmita Valdivia’s oldest daughter, was a member of MSJC’s first graduating class in 1965. Their son, Sal Jr. graduated a few years later and also served as a bus driver and gardener for MSJC. He returned later as a basketball and golf coach. Sylvia and Sal are retired educators. Sal’s children also attended MSJC.

“My husband and I both worked hard so all three of our children could go to school and do what we couldn’t do. We were so excited when MSJC opened. My daughter Sylvia was in the first graduating class. All three of our kids became educators and MSJC gave them their start.”
