Students, Alumni and Friends awarded at 8th Annual MSJC Foundation Gala

February 8, 2016

More than 400 people attended the Mt. San Jacinto College Foundation’s 8th annual Gala to raise funds that will support student scholarships and college programs.

This year’s theme, MSJC – Building a Sustainable Future, featured a Recycled Art & Fashion Show with designs by MSJC Students.  Mary Runde and Dennis Armatis tied for first place, each receiving a scholarship for $1000. The second place winner was Kyle Nguyen who was awarded $750.

The evening included a silent auction, delicious meal and live music by the band Kicks.

The gala allows the Foundation to recognize those who have supported the college and its students. This year, the Alumni & Friends Association recognized the following people:

Outstanding Staff Member – Becky Elam, Vice President of Business Services at MSJC
Outstanding Faculty Member – Jeremy Brown, interim Dean of Instruction, Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Menifee Valley Campus
Outstanding Community Members – The Hemet/San Jacinto Chamber of Commerce
Outstanding Alumni & Friend – John & Yvonne Branchflower, longtime MSJC Foundation supporters and contributors. Mr. Branchflower served on the MSJC Foundation board for more than 20 years.

The Gala is the MSJC Foundation’s signature event to raise funds for student scholarships, mini-grants for faculty and classified staff and other philanthropic endeavors. The Foundation has many opportunities for donors to provide support.
