MSJC Foundation Gala: Thursday is last day to reserve a room at Pechanga

The 5th annual Gala -- Golden Jubilee—will be held  on Feb. 9, 2013
Thursday, Jan. 10 is the last day to reserve a room for a special rate at Pechanga for the Mt. San Jacinto College Foundation’s 5th annual Gala. This year’s gala will be a memorable one as the Foundation celebrates MSJC’s 50th anniversary with the Golden Jubilee Gala. You can reserve a room to stay all night, or just plan to spend the evening meeting alumni, enjoying a meal and dancing to live entertainment all to help support MSJC and its students.
The gala will feature four distinguished alumni who are currently working in the performing arts. Brent Howard, Ron Murray, Lynn Wiley and Jehnean Washington will perform at the Golden Jubilee on Feb. 9, 2013 at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula.
Howard is the operations manager for Jabbawockeez, a dance crew that performs in Las Vegas. Murray is a beloved long-time theaters arts instructor at Hemet High School who also performs throughout the San Jacinto Valley. Wiley is a professional musician with band called One-2-Many, which performs all over Southern California and locally in the wine country and other venues. Washington, who has played Ramona in the Ramona Pageant, acts, sings, dances, plays flute and the hand drum, and is a storyteller, voiceover artist,  and composer.
In addition, the Foundation will honor several people with the annual Alumni & Friends Association Awards. Outstanding Community Member of the Year will go to the Family of Marie Quandt and Carl Quandt, who donated the land for the San Jacinto Campus (the families of Ella Mae “Quandt” Record and Marjorie “Quandt” Goodwin). Outstanding Alumni and Friend of the Year will go to Nancy and Mike McIntyre, who provide ongoing support of the MSJC Foundation and Eagle Athletics. Outstanding Staff Member of the Year will go to Brian Twitty, MSJC District Facilities Manager. Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year will go to Richard Sisk, associate professor of English at MSJC. And this year, the Foundation is giving a Special Recognition to former MSJC Trustee Joan F. Sparkman, who stepped down in December 2012 after serving on the Board since 1999.
The Gala is made possible by generous donors including the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians, the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians, Southern California Edison, LPA Inc. and others and the guests whose attendance helps benefit the students at MSJC.
Gala guests will be able to take a tour of a walking timeline, which showcases the past, present and future of MSJC. A silent auction will include gifts ranging from airline and sporting event tickets to golf and spa packages. Menifee artist Luciano Paesani is donating a painting for the silent auction. The MSJC Menifee Jazz Ensemble will entertain guests during the cocktail hour, with the band Kicks ( rounding out the evening for dancing.
