Frequently Asked Questions

When do I apply for commencement?

Apply for graduation with Enrollment Services when you are registered for your last term. The application, which is online and at the E​nrollment Services counter, is used to review if all academic requirements have been met. The last day to apply for graduation is March 8th.

 

Are late applications accepted?
Late applications will be accepted, however some restrictions may apply. Exceptions to the timeline will be considered for students with extenuating circumstances.
 
Late applications submitted between:
  • March 11th - March 29th must accompany a student petition with a counselor recommendation. 

  • April 1st - April 26th must accompany a student petition with counselor recommendation and an acknowledgment that it is too late for their name to appear in the commencement program. 
  • April 29th - May 10th must accompany a student petition with counselor recommendation and an acknowledgment that it is too late to participate in the commencement ceremony.

When is graduation?

Graduation, also called commencement, is on Thursday, May 23rd, 2019. There will be two ceremonies: 10AM and 3PM. Approved graduates must RSVP to attend ONE of the two available ceremonies. To RSVP visit the link to the left.


How long is the graduation ceremony? Can graduates leave early?

Approximately 2 hours. However it depends on the number of graduates participating in the ceremony. Graduates are expected to participate in the ceremony in its entirety. Early departures are not allowed as it disrupts the ceremony and is disrespectful to other graduates.


Where is the commencment ceremony? How do I get there?

The commencement ceremony is held at the Pechanga Resort & Casino which is located at: 45000 Pechanga Pkwy, Temecula CA 92592.


How many guests may I invite?

You may invite as many friends and family as you would like.


Do my guests need tickets?

No; guests (family & friends) do not require tickets or to RSVP.

 

Is there a rehearsal?

No. Graduates will be able to watch a rehearsal video and view the Graduation Newsletter- both of which are linked to the left.


Which cermony will my professor attend?

Faculty will attend the ceremony as follows:

10 a.m. ceremony- Math, Science, Athletics, and Career Education

3 p.m. ceremony- Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Counselors

 

Graduates however may select their most preferential ceremony- space permitting.


Are caps and gowns/regalia required?

All graduates attending the ceremony are required to wear a cap, gown (“regalia”) and other regalia including tassels, honor cords, and Phi Theta Kappa cords can be purchased from the One Stop Eagle Shop Bookstore (sizes become limited closer to graduation). The cost of regalia varies based on the package. For more information contact the Eagle Bookstore at (951) 487-3130 or (951) 639-5130.

What is the Grad Fair?

The Grad Fair is hosted by the One Stop Eagle Shop Bookstore.This is an opportunity to receive special reduced pricing on all Grad Packs (caps/gowns/tassels/cords) – some packs may even be reduced by up to 20%! There will also be an Internship and Career opportunity booth, Foundation booth and Graduate Questions booth available for students during the Grad Fair.

The Grad Fair will take place at the San Jacinto campus and Menifee Valley campus:

What if I missed the MSJC Grad Fair?

If you were not able to attend the MSJC Grad Fair, you can purchase your regalia at the MSJC Bookstore. 


Are ADA accommodations available?

Graduates and/or guests who need special accommodations during the ceremony (i.e. sign language interpreter, wheelchair access, etc.) are strongly encouraged to let us know so arrangements can be made. Contact Disabled Students Program at (951) 639-5305 or (951) 487-3305 for accommodations. Graduates and guests may also visit the DSPS booth on the day of graduation for assistance.

 

Will I receive my diploma on May 23rd?

No- each graduate will receive one diploma cover when their name is announced and they cross the stage. The actual awards will be mailed to graduates after July 14. Those who graduated in Summer or Fall 2017 should have already received their award. If you have questions regarding diplomas or certificates, contact the Evaluators’ Office in Enrollment Services at (951) 639-5219 or (951) 487-3224.

 

Will professional photos be taken for Graduates?

 Yes. two professional companies will be onsite. (1) Grad Images Photography will be at the ceremony to provide graduates with professional photographs for their individual purchase. A passport sized photo will be emailed at no cost however packages of various sizes can be ordered. Pricing is below.

(2) The House of Portraits will also be onsite and offer the opportunity for graduates to take photos. The House of Portraits will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pricing varies- more to come.
