Fire Alarm System Upgrades-San Jacinto Campus

Beginning Friday, July 28th – Thursday, August 3rd, Fire Alarm testing will take place on the San Jacinto Campus.  Construction is now complete and the final step is campus-wide testing of the system.  Testing is expected to begin at 7:00am-4:00pm each day for approximately 4-6 days during the time frame above. A team of inspectors, contractors and District staff will be walking through every room/office in every building on the campus testing each new device. We will be testing during the weekend to reduce the amount of disruption to employees and students, however, the days needed for testing will cause disruption to a couple of work days, which is unavoidable.

What to expect:

-              The crew of testers in your work area conducting a smoke test of each device and checking strobe alarms (multiple devices per office)
Short and frequent activation of the fire alarm throughout the day during testing
Radio communication with testing crew and M & O to ensure system activation

We understand this will be a nuisance and we ask for your patience and cooperation during this time.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Facilities Planning Bond office at 487-3396.

The San Jacinto Campus Fire Alarm project is in the final testing phase of construction. In the best interest of the campus programs, the testing of the new Fire Alarm System will be conducted on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through the summer months. This should not affect the quality of life or instruction on campus.

The system will be complete by the start of fall 2018 semester.
