April 10, 2015
During its regular meeting on April 9, 2015, the Mt. San Jacinto College Board of Trustees approved a resolution that formalizes the results of the Measure AA election and approved an agreement with the MSJC Foundation.
Resolution 2014/15-237 formally recognizes that Measure AA was approved by more than 55 percent of the votes cast during the November 2014 election. It also provides formal notification of the election results to the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools and the Riverside County Board of Supervisors. In addition, the adoption of the resolution starts the 60-day period during which the district must establish the independent Citizens Oversight Committee. The district formally solicited for candidates to apply for a post on the committee and has received more than 20 applications. The district will have a 9-member committee, two more than required to ensure diverse representation.
The board also approved a master agreement with the MSJC Foundation. The Foundation will remain an auxiliary to the district.
The district made new faculty appointments and will recruit for candidates for the following: classified positions; director of Institutional Advancement/External Relations and MSJC Foundation; director of Student Equity and Success.
The Board will hold a special Facilities Workshop meeting at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2015. The location is still to be determined.
The next regular board meeting has been rescheduled from the second Thursday of the month to Thursday, May 21, 2015. It will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the San Jacinto Campus, Room 200 and linked to Room 851 at the Menifee Valley Campus.
