The Mt. San Jacinto College Board of Trustees approved hiring faculty and classified staff members and contracts funded by Measure AA and heard an update from the MSJC Foundation during its regular meeting on Aug. 13, 2015.
The board approved hiring William “Tony” Farrar as a full-time instructor for Administration of Justice. Tony Farrar has been in law enforcement for 34 years. The last five years, he served as the Chief of Police for the Rialto Police Department.
The board also approved hiring 42 associate faculty members, five classified members and approved five new classified positions.
Contract Agreements funded by Measure AA were also approved by the board:
- LPA, Inc. will provide master planning implementation for campus California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) studies.
- Arcadis, Inc. will provide program and project management services for the district’s Measure AA projects.
- Facilities Planning & Program Services (FPPS) will provide program and project management services for the district’s Measure AA projects.
- North State Environmental will remove floor tiles and mastic in room 200 and the south hallway in building 200 on the San Jacinto Campus.
Dr. Richard Giese, president of the MSJC Foundation Board, and foundation board members Mary Lucas and Dennis Frank gave an update about the foundation to the MSJC Board. Highlights of the presentation included an increase in funds raised at the annual gala. The foundation’s signature event raised more than $87,000 this year, the highest since 2009. In 2014-15, the foundation awarded nearly $48,000 in faculty and department mini-grants and disbursed $385,795 in scholarships to students. The MSJC Foundation also joined forces with the Community Foundation based in Riverside to enhance fundraising efforts.
