The Mt. San Jacinto College Board of Trustees held its annual reorganization meeting, approved administrative appointments, established a student health center and named the child care centers after late Trustee Gwendolyn Schlange during the regular meetings on Dec. 8, 2016.
Tom Ashley was selected to serve as board president for a second consecutive year during the annual reorganization meeting. Trustee Bill Zimmerman will serve as Clerk of the Board for a second consecutive year.
Mt. San Jacinto College Board of Trustees approved the administrative appointment of Brian Orlauski to serve as interim Vice President of Business Services. Orlauski is stepping in after longtime Vice President of Business Services Becky Elam retires this month. Katherine Stratton was appointed Interim Associate Dean of Information Technology. She will serve in Orlauski’s role during his interim appointment as vice president.
Mt. San Jacinto College Board of Trustees approved the establishment of a Student Health Services Center at the San Jacinto and Menifee Campuses. The goal of the center is to promote academic excellence and enrich the student experience by providing high-quality, accessible, and comprehensive medical care to students.
The Mt. San Jacinto College Board of Trustees approved naming the Mt. San Jacinto College Child Development and Education Centers for Gwendolyn E. Schlange. Ms. Schlange had a long career in education and served the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley for decades. She was a teacher at Little Lake Elementary School in Hemet for 40 years. She dedicated herself for more than 20 years as a trustee on the MSJC Board of Trustees. Ms. Schlange passed away on November 21, 2016.
