The Mt. San Jacinto College Board of Trustees approved faculty tenures, Golden Handshakes for retirees and advised the district to move forward with a solar project during its regular meeting on Feb. 11, 2016.
Four faculty members were granted tenure by the board:
- Susan Hoschstrat
- Leticia Luna-Sims
- Tamara Smith
- Samson Wakjira
The board approved the offering of the CalPERS and CalSTRS Golden Handshake retirement incentive.
After a second presentation since January by Clyde Murley, solar program manager for the Community College League of California, the board authorized the District to move forward with locating a field for energy-saving photovoltaic project on the San Jacinto Campus. The photovoltaic field would take up about 10 acres and would generate more energy for the campus at a lower cost than placing solar panels on carports. The photovoltaic field will result in energy savings at that San Jacinto Campus.
The Board also heard an update on the Student Success Scorecard. Dean Brandon Moore, Dean Rebecca Teague and Director of Research Nik Mesaris presented the information. The scorecard provides statewide transparency and accountability on student progress and student metrics. It also provides insight into how colleges are performing in remedial instruction, job training programs, retention of students and graduation and completion rates. Overall, MSJC students continue to show an upward path of achievement and success.
