The Mt. San Jacinto College Board of Trustees approved a total of 26 tenure track faculty positions, heard reports on the status of the Educational Master Plan updates and the proposed health care centers, and accepted the audit for the Measure AA bond funds.
During the Nov. 10, 2016 meeting, the trustees confirmed the 26 academic recruitments/new faculty positions. Thirteen of those are replacement faculty for those retiring and 13 are for new positions.
The board heard a report on the updates for the Educational Master plan, which serves as a blueprint for the type of instructional programs MSJC should offer for the future. The report was given by Brandon Moore, executive dean of Institutional Effectiveness, Assessment and Student Success; Rebecca Teague, dean of Planning, Institutional Effectiveness and Grants, and consultant Dr. Pat Schwerdtfeger.
Vice President of Student Services Dr. Bill Vincent provided information on the costs associated with establishing the Student Health Services Center at MSJC. In December, Dr. Vincent will provide a recommendation to the board outlining the various costs.
The board accepted the independent audit for the Measure AA bond. The auditor found no significant deficiencies and no material findings or recommendations were made in the report. Principal Auditor Heidi White was present at the meeting.
The board will hold its next regular meeting at 3: 30 p.m. on Dec. 8 at the San Jacinto Campus, Room 200, and linked to the Menifee Valley Campus, Room 851. The board has scheduled a work session to discuss facilities at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 9 at the Temecula Higher Education Center.
