The event, which will be held on the Menifee Valley Campus, is free and open to the public. In addition to the Enrollment Fair, the Arts Festival includes dancers, artists, poets, musicians, hands-on activities and a Food Truck Rally.
Art-related activities for everyone, from children to adults, are planned. Popular food trucks will provide visitors with a wide variety of cuisine. The Enrollment Fair will be held in front of Student Services Bldg. 100 and will have computers and assistance for visitors who wish to prepare to register for classes at MSJC, sign up for financial aid and more.
Festivities begin at noon and the day culminates with an evening jazz event titled “Art: the way it was!” Guests can enjoy a conversation with author Laurie Pepper. Pepper, wife of the late jazz musician Art Pepper, will discuss her memoir “ART: Why I Stuck with a Junkie Jazzman.” A jazz performance by Dr. Jeremy Brown, MSJC’s dean of instruction and former chair of the music department, and Marshall Hawkins, a legendary jazz artist who played with jazz greats like Miles Davis, will also be a part of Pepper’s discussion.
The event, supported in part by the MSJC Foundation, will be held noon to 8 p.m. on the Menifee Valley Campus, 28237 La Piedra Rd. in Menifee. American Sign Language interpreters will be on site during the event. For more information, contact the Foundation at 951-487-3171 or 951-719-4761.
