Sponsored by the Diversity Committee, this presentation will cover some facts about various aspects of human trafficking and the complexities of being in the cycles of trafficking. Dynamics of the relationships will be addressed as well as common situations that may lead to a person finding themselves in this vicious cycle.

Human Trafficking Speakers:

Kristen Dolan - After spending 13 years as a multi-media journalist, Kristen Dolan made the leap into the nonprofit world by accepting a position at Operation SafeHouse as the Anti-Human Trafficking Director. She is also the Victim Service Coordinator for the Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, of which SafeHouse is a founding member. Kristen has been trained in trauma informed care, human trafficking victim advocacy, and best practices on working with commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC). She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 2006. Kristen also attended the University of California Riverside - Palm Desert Campus where she completed a yearlong certificate program in Non-Profit Management.

Anne-Michelle Ellis – Coordinator of the San Bernardino County Coalition Against Sexual Exploitation, Anne-Michelle Ellis was hired in December of 2010 as the first coordinator for the San Bernardino County Coalition Against Sexual Exploitation which had been active for nearly two years at the time. She previously worked for Operation SafeHouse, a shelter for runaway and homeless teenagers in Riverside (1996-1999, 2004-2010) as a Childcare Worker, Grant Writer, Fundraiser and Education & Employment Coordinator and Case Manager. She also worked for Third Level Crisis Intervention Center in Traverse City, Michigan (2002-2004) as a Crisis Hotline Counselor and Community Resource Manager. She was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from the University of California, Riverside in 2003 and is currently pursuing a MSW at Loma Linda University.

Investigator Ian Anderson - Senior district attorney investigator Ian Anderson has been in law enforcement for approximately 21 years, has personally investigated several hundred cases involving crimes against property and persons to include homicides, robbery, home invasion robbery and gang related crimes. He has handled career criminal and crimes against peace officer cases and have been assigned to the Sexual Assault/Child Abuse Unit. Investigator Anderson is currently assigned to the Riverside County Anti Human Trafficking Task Force (RCAHT). This unit is located within the Special Investigations Bureau (SIB) of the Riverside County Sheriff’s department. His assignment is to investigate any and all incidents, throughout the County of Riverside, where human trafficking is potentially occurring.
