Important Notice About Westech College Closure

April 6, 2017

MSJC has a Strong Career & Technical Education Program and Accreditation Standing. We Welcome New Students
Mt. San Jacinto College has been watching closely the news about accreditation issues throughout the state and closures of the private Westech College campuses. We want to make sure that former Westech students have the information and resources they need to help them achieve their goals for higher education.

Career & Technical Education Program: MSJC has longtime partnerships with regional industry and offers a wide range of programs that Westech had offered, but at a fraction of the cost. Visit or call 951-639-5352.

Accreditation: First, it is important to know that Mt. San Jacinto College is proud of its strong accreditation standing. Our accreditation was reaffirmed in 2012 and MSJC received 8 commendations that recognized the quality work we do to support student success. In fact, MSJC  was one of only four state colleges out of 14 to receive accreditation with no sanctions during the 2012 cycle.

Accreditation assures the public that the college meets and has plans to continue meeting all of the following standards: Institutional Mission and Effectiveness; Student Learning Programs and Services; Leadership and Governance; and Resources. It means that the education earned at a college is of value to the student because a degree or credential from an accredited college is accepted by employers, trade or profession-related licensing agencies and other colleges or universities as legitimate. Closure of Westech: MSJC understands the confusions and struggles students of the now-shuttered Westech College face in continuing their higher education. As part of the California Community Colleges system, MSJC is prepared to help and welcome new students who will turn to us to complete their goals.  We have transcript evaluators ready to  review your transcripts for course and program mapping.
Community colleges offer many of the same programs that Westech College offered, but at much lower tuition fees. The California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office collaborated with the California Department of Justice on a resource web page for students after other private colleges closed. The information can be helpful to Westech students at
