The 1925 novel The Great Gatsby defined “The Jazz Age” and is touted to mark the beginning of the modern novel. This beautifully crafted interpretation of the iconic novel translated to the stage loses nothing and gains much. It explores a time of glamour and decadent excess while Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire, passionately pursues his elusive lost love Daisy Buchanan. It is a powerful realization of Fitzgerald’s novel of obsession, love, money, corruption and the American dream. There’s no question that ‘Gatsby’ has all the elements of great theatre.
