Mt. San Jacinto College and California Baptist University Online & Professional Studies (CBU/Online) will offer MSJC students an enhanced, discounted and seamless transfer process under a new agreement. Officials from the CBU/Online and MSJC announced that they will sign a partnership agreement at a ceremony on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 3 p.m.at MSJC’s Menifee Valley Campus.
California Baptist University's Dr. David Poole, vice president for Online and Professional Studies, and Dr. Roger Schultz, MSJC Superintendent/President, will sign the agreement during a formal ceremony in the Learning Resource Center, Room 805 the Menifee Valley Campus, 28237 La Piedra Road in Menifee.
“The agreement with CBU/Online is another innovative way we can help MSJC students to succeed,” Dr. Schultz said. "This program offers a significant discount in tuition, creates a convenient transfer process and helps students achieve their goals of earning a four-year degree.”
The Transfer Admission Guarantee agreement promises eligible MSJC transfer students admission to California Baptist University Online and a tuition scholarship of 30% for full-time unit load.
"These types of agreements are beneficial to both the students and the institutions involved," said Dr. Poole. "Many more students are striving to transfer, and affordability is a major concern, particularly in California. CBU/Online is ranked by US News & World Report in the top #25 for online bachelor’s degree programs and we are so pleased to be able to offer our students the opportunity to participate in this transfer program at a significant discount.”
All matriculated MSJC students are eligible to apply to the Fast Track to Success Program. Requirements include completing a minimum of 12 transferable semester units and earning a minimum 2.0 GPA in all previously completed coursework; selecting a baccalaureate-level academic program for which there is an official articulation agreement between the two schools; achieving grades of 'C' or higher in all general education/critical breadth requirements; and completing the formal CBU application process.
The primary goals of the agreement are to increase the transfer rate from Mt. San Jacinto College to California Baptist University, augment the completion rate of MSJC students once they enroll at California Baptist University, and coordinate course work between the two. Both institutions will evaluate the program for effectiveness on an annual basis.
