Mt. San Jacinto College, Menifee Valley Campus, Performing Arts Department with the support of the MSJC Foundation presents “Parade.” With hauntingly beautiful music, this Tony Award-winning show with score and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, (The Bridges of Madison County and The Last Five Years) and a compelling book by Oscar winner Alfred Uhry (Driving Miss Daisy), is a powerful, unforgettable theatrical experience.
At the heart of Parade is the endurance of love and hope against all the odds. Set in Georgia in 1913, it tells the epic true story of one of the most famous, hotly-debated and tabloid-exploited trials in American history. Leo Frank, a Brooklyn-raised Jewish factory manager in Georgia, is accused of an unthinkable crime. Exploring this case full of false testimonies and circumstantial evidence, Parade is a riveting murder mystery, a gripping courtroom drama, a moving love story and certainly one of the most powerful new musical theatre works of our time. Shezwae Powell, chair of the Theater Arts Department at MSJC, is pleased to bring this Broadway musical to the local audience.
“Apart from being entertaining, like the musical Hamilton, Parade tells us important things about American history that have so much resonance for our lives today,” Powell said.
Cost $10 MSJC students / $15 other students / $20 general admission. Recommended parental guidance, ages 12 and above. Tickets are available online at temeculatheater.org or by phone at 866-653-8696.
