MSJC ranks #1 in Hands Across California fundraiser

In order to keep the top spot, MSJC is still accepting donations through June
The Bernard Osher Foundation will provide a 50 percent match
Students from Mt. San Jacinto College joined their peers at Saddleback College on Sunday, April 17 for Hands Across California, a statewide effort to raise awareness of community colleges and funds for community college student scholarships.
By Sunday, MSJC was the #1 fundraiser, with more than $3,800 from generous donors, in the statewide fundraising effort. And there is still time to donate. Contributions will be accepted through the Hands Across California link through June.
MSJC students shared fruit, pizza and cookies and played games like Frisbee and giant chess with their Saddleback peers. At 2 p.m., all of the students formed a ring around the Saddleback quad, joined hands, and a chain created by Saddleback College students to symbolize thousands of community college students. The scene was repeated at community colleges throughout California.
Hands Across California was a statewide event organized by the Foundation for California Community Colleges to benefit community colleges and their students by creating a permanent scholarship fund for students in generations to come. Net proceeds will be boosted by an additional 50 % from The Bernard Osher Foundation.
Community College students, faculty and supporters held hands to form a human chain across California.
In order to keep MSJC’s #1 standing in fundraising, the MSJC Foundation continues to seek donations through June. Click on and hit the donate button. Then, follow the instructions.
